Frequently Asked Questions
What types of clients do you work with as a holistic nutritionist?
I can work with anyone! The best fit for my services however, would be a person who is perhaps disenfranchised with a drug model of health that deals only with symptoms and wants to get to the root causes, or wants a healthier, holistic, more natural way to health. Also, someone who is highly driven and motivated to take the steps, and exercise the discipline, to make the lifestyle changes that are needed would be a great fit.
What factors do you consider when helping someone make changes?
I look at a very broad picture when looking to help someone improve his or her health and establish healthy habits. I consider health history, sources of toxicity, emotional and physical stresses, amount and quality of sleep, state of fitness and activity, on top of one’s food habits and whatever nutritional deficiencies might be present. There are many things to consider; much more than a few symptoms that may be displaying.
Are your services covered by insurance?
It used to be not so much…but that is changing thankfully. More and more third-party and company health insurance policies are covering Holistic Nutritionist services. Check with your health insurance provider to see if they will provide coverage for my services.
Do you hope to have clients as repeat customers forever, or do you have different expectations?
My model is that of helping clients improve to the point that they feel they can move forward on their own, for the most part. With the exception perhaps of the stand-alone graph which can be completed at a fraction of the initial cost… is not my expectation to have clients coming back in perpetuity. I want to see you improve and regain your health! However, if you need extra help and want to return for more sessions, that is completely fine and up to you.
Do you provide educational resources or materials to help?
Yes if people are amenable to it I will give out information and links. I provide information, and knowledge is power. I let clients know what is important to learn in their particular situations and can provide links to articles or information where this knowledge can be found. I do not usually print up material for clients.
What is a realistic time frame to start seeing change?
This is highly variable. Lasting change takes time to occur, and the rate of change varies from person to person, their previous condition and health status, and how dedicated they are to improving their health. However if you are dedicated and disciplined in putting positive diet and lifestyle changes in to effect, and especially if you can begin or continue an appropriate exercise regime, you can see changes within a month, although a few months is more realistic if you are looking for noticeable changes. However even this can be a bit misleading, as things can be changing for the better on the inside with your health even if you cannot see or feel or weigh those changes very well externally. Nevertheless, keep going with things and you will continue moving onwards and upwards!
